One of the first native flowers that I noticed when I came to California is the trillium. They are delicate yet powerful and abundant at Big River Farm under the redwood trees. They cannot be picked or transplanted, and must be enjoyed in their own time, peeking up through the redwood duff in spring, announcing the brighter times are coming soon
