Trilliums
One of the first native flowers that I noticed when I came to California is the trillium. They are delicate yet powerful and abundant at Big River Farm under the redwood trees. They cannot be picked or transplanted, and must be enjoyed in their own time, peeking up through the redwood duff in spring, announcing the brighter times are coming soon.
Cherry Blossom Song
The sound of bees buzzing in the cherry tree canopy touches my heart as I relax in the orchard at Big River Farm. The bright white blossoms stand out against the dark forest beyond. Magical!

Mendocino Starry Night
Mendocino is a “dark sky” town, with few streetlights. The night sky is dramatic. One night Venus was particularly bright, inspiring a version of Van Gogh’s Starry Night celebrating the church tower and water towers with various window lights suggesting the human element of this special night sky & moon reflected in the ocean.
